Unlike the mass-produced radios of today, the mottled effect in these early Bakelite radio's was created by the men or women who cast them.

Each radio is unique and sometimes very dramatic.

Consistent quality appears not to have been the mantra it is today and the colours vary greatly from batch to batch.
