AWA Radiolette 110/C104 - 1933 The cabinet design in virtually identical to the earlier C87 apart from the addition of the 2 mottled side panels and the 3 mottled knobs. However the bakelite is darker and nowhere near as dramatic as the earlier Radiolette. This model sports a 5 valve superheterodyne circuit and retailed for 21 pounds and 10 shillings. The average weekly wage in 1933 was £4, which would mean in todays terms that this radio would cost A$4400.00. This is slightly easier to find than its earlier cousin, but is none the less very rare. Australia had a tiny population in 1933 so compared to the US and UK production was miniscule, also retailers in this country encouraged a "trade-in" policy effectively taking old radios out of the second hand market and shipping them to the dump by the truckload. |
